Button is disabled(unclickable) inside the child form?

I am unable to update the amound in my custom product costing module as the button UPDATE AMOUNT(calculate price)

is by default disabled.

If I save the product item and then go to that form, It is clickable, means then I can change the amount of different fields and can update total by clicking that button.

Is there a way to have that button to update my TOTAL field by clicking the button?

How to get that button active while creating the PRODUCT ITEM? and can alter the field values and check them by Clicking UPDATE AMOUNT (calculation) button?

Button will become active (i.e clickable) only for saved records (i.e records having id) in child forms... so one cannot make it visible or make it do the funtionality untill and unless the record is saved...

Alternate option, use onchange_event  to serve your purpose... In that way, event will return calculated amount for Total field, and finally when you save the record,  your evaluation method will recompute and proceed with things ....

thank you.

I am saving the Add item in the product costing sub form, though I am clicking SAVE button on the TOP of the Main Form. It only allows me to click the button which is inside child form after Clicking the SAVE button of Main.... Your Answer completely clears my doubt that it can not be done as I have researched that it is in openerp's nature to restrict updating child without saving Parent. Thanks for the alternate solution......Regards JK

I have considered the solution you have suggested as Alternate solution, but it might not be easy to fit it in my code.
