Is it possible for one product to have multiple BOMs? So you can choose which to use?
Eg. In a chocolate cake you can choose to use either a recipe with Brand A chocolate or Brand B chocolate? I don't want this to be a different variant
Thanks

I found out how to do this. Create a BOM under Manufacturing, select the same product but give it a different reference to differentiate the BOMs.
Now when I open a manufacturing order, I can select which BOM I want.
The downside is that if automated, the algorithm will auto-pick the first BOM (I think), which might be a problem.
An easy work around would be to add an empty BoM as the first bom to your product. That way, the MO triggered will be in Draft. Then you can select the correct bom and confirm the MO as you please.
Thanks for the advice, Jaideep! That's really helpful knowledge
You can have several alternative BOM. But if the Manufacturing order is created automatic (MTO or Scheduling job), it go right into status Confirmed. Then you cannot change bom. The top bom will be used. A trick to avoid confirmation is that the top bom does not have components, That will avoid the manufacturing order to be confirmed, and you must choose a bom or add components. (A manufacturing order must have components).
An option is to add a component and set the requirement of the original component = 0. That also works fine. Be aware that if you use work center / work orders, the status must be Unplanned.
Thanks for the details Lars
