I have installed odoo ver 8 and am setting up project management. In comparing my new company to the demo, the menu that shows when I select the project tab does not have configuration. What am I missing in the install?

have you enabled "Technical Features" for your admin user? (at page "Settings/Users/Users" in the form view of corresponding user, find a checkbox "Technical Features" and check it, then save changes and refresh a page in browser)
