Which version are you using?
There might a few things to check.
- In product categories: Is Inventory Valuation = Automatic.
- Have you set up Accounting Stock Properties correctly?
- In accounting there should be a Stock Journal.
From the valuation, click to open a line. Click on Stock Move. There you should find a button with link to accounting entries.
If neither of these solves it, you need to provide more details.
this is version 15
valuation is manual
I do not see inventory journal in the accounting module
but all my items are linked to an accounting account
Assure that you are following @lars mentioned by going to the product category for the product and materials and make sure that everything is mapped correctly.
- further more all your items must be 'Storable' to calculate a cost in stock move.
all items must have some value in the 'cost ' field.
