How can other users be notified about new discuss messages from users (colleagues) who are out of the office e.g for vacation and do not care for their followed records.
Notifications are managed in odoo - no email notifications.

Hi Sebastian,
Right now there is no out of the box solution for this. You would need to create an own solution for it such as forwarding the e-mails (if you have a mail server setup) for example.
Starting from V13 you will be able to set out of office messages in Odoo to handle these cases though! One of the Odoo product owners has tweeted about it recently. See https://twitter.com/EST_Odoo/status/1096077107342368768 for a small preview.
