Hello,

I am quiet new to Odoo, please be forgiving if my question seems to very basic...

We consider Odoo as our ERP system, to cover following functionality (in the beginning):

  • product management and integration with our shirt print on demand (POD) partner's API

  • product synchronisation with our Shopify shop

  • order synchronisation with our Shopify shop.

  • fulfillment by our POD partner

  • inhouse stock management and fulfillment support

  • integration with the Austrian Post for shipping and label printing

As there is not integration for our POD partner and also not for the Austrian post, it looks like I need to create two modules to cover this requirements.

My questions now:

  • Is it possible to use custom modules in the hosted version of Odoo?

  • Or do we need to host on our own then?

  • Do we need the enterprise version or can we achieve this functionality with the community version as well?

Thank you for your input!

regards

Hi Niyas Raphy,

thanks for your fast reply!

Hi,

First of all you have to decide which version to choose, either the enterprise or community. If you choose the enterprise, you have the benefits of free database migration to higher versions on its release, extra features in all modules, availability of Odoo studio for front end customization and much more, and you have to pay for it.

If you go with the community, its free of cost version, with less features than in the enterprise edition. So based on features you need and according to budget you can fix community or enterprise.

For the Odoo enterprise, we have three options, odoo online, odoo.sh and odoo on premise. Definitely you cannot choose the odoo online as it does not support the custom modules. So once you choose the enterprise, either you can go with the odoo.sh or odoo on premise(deploy odoo in your server).

* For custom modules: In enterprise either you have to choose Odoo.sh or On Premise. In community you can use.

* If you choose Odoo Enterprise on premise and Odoo Community you have to host it in your server.

* You can compare both versions and make a decision. With the provided details, its upto you to choose between the versions.

Thanks
