I dont think there's gonna be a common solution. Different brands have their own SDKs. Our fingerprint scanner for instance comes with a Django+mySQL management system in Windows so what we did is to write script that syncs with Odoo and the mySQL database through xml-rpc. 

We are working on windows agent that can do this for All ZkTeco and TrustOne machines for now.And we have a big plan to expand to any new Attendance machine as we have it's SDK.

,basically we have done Manual Sync part and automatic sync is under development,please tell me if you are interested and what do you need in such App..
