I have about 50 people who do NOT need any type of interface into Odoo except to scan the work order indicating that they are beginning/ending work. Do I need to pay for additional users for all these people or is there an interface for barcode scanning that does not require login?

Barcodes in Odoo can be used in lieu of certain actions that would be otherwise done through the interface.
Eg:
- Pick, Pack, Ship
- Processing moves (ie. transferring)
- Stocktaking, stock adjustments
- Creating serial numbers and lot numbers
If you were to do this through the interface, you would need to be a user and those actions would be recorded under your name (eg. chatter entries). When using a barcode scanner, the situation is not different. You somehow need to be a user in order to make modifications and actions in the system. Just like through the interface, you could use the same login as someone else, but it will prevent the manager of tracking who did what because the actions of your 50 people will be recorded under the same user.
