I would like to use Odoo 12 but the lack of an accounting module makes it unusable for me unless I purchase enterprise.
Can anyone recommend a custom module/app?
Is it recommended to get a developer create one to provide TB/AP/AR and all the relevant reports?

I would recommend to you to use odoo V10 rather than V11 or V12 due to lack of accounting module
V10 CE is very powerful and there are hundred of free custom modules you can set to improve your products
