Is there a way to deselect this option in Settings>Configuration>Sales>Quotations and Sales Orders>Warehouse Features: Trigger delivery orders automatically from sales orders without uninstalling the Sales and Warehouse Management Modules?

If the delivery order is created automatically, the user has to cancel the delivery order first before cancelling/deleting the Sales Order. The user has no access to the Warehouse module and having it cancelled with an admin is tedious.

Hi,

If you disable " Trigger delivery orders automatically from sales orders " option:-

It will uninstall " Sales and Warehouse Management " Module, actually that module for adding following functionality (if you don't want that, there is no need of this module)-

This module makes the link between the sales and warehouses management applications :-

Preferences

  • Shipping: Choice of delivery at once or partial delivery

  • Invoicing: choose how invoices will be paid

  • Incoterms: International Commercial terms

You can choose flexible invoicing methods:

  • On Demand: Invoices are created manually from Sales Orders when needed

  • On Delivery Order: Invoices are generated from picking (delivery)

  • Before Delivery: A Draft invoice is created and must be paid before delivery

So you can reinstall that module again to get that functionality. If you have a specific need with disabling that feature it will be better if you can specify that in Question.

Hope this helps.....

Unfortunately, as @Baiju KS has stated the sale_stock ("Sales and Warehouse Management") module is developed with a tight integration between Sale and Stock flow.  You might want to reconsider what you need from that module and what you don't need from that module and weight on the following options (there are maybe more, but these are what I have in mind presently):

  • Set the Create Invoice (order_policy) field of the Sale Order to "Prepaid".  This will make prevent the Delivery Order to be created when Sale Order is confirmed.  However, the Invoice will still be created.  And to cancel the Sale Order, you still need to cancel the Invoice first.  The Delivery Order will be created automatically once the Sale Order is fully invoiced.

  • Structure the organisation so that someone will take care of the Warehousing aspects, including cancelling of Delivery Order in the case of cancelled Sale Order.  If the frequency of the need to cancel Sale Order is high, I would recommend that you take a look at the Sale Order and amend it so that cancelled Sale Order is really an exception case, not a normal flow.  You might want to set an intermediary state and flow before confirmation.

  • Weight the option of developing a module that get what you want from sale_stock without the tight integration or developing a module on top of sale_stock.  Developing a fresh module is more beneficial if you just need a very small subset of what sale_stock provides.  Developing a fresh module on top of sale_stock if you just need to modify a very small part of what sale_stock provides.
