+1 for “This Fiscal Year”, “Last Fiscal Year”, “This Fiscal quarter”, “Last Fiscal quarter”

Hello Lionel
Please consider that many companies need a filter "This fiscal year" and "Last fiscal year", as well as "last fiscal quarter", "last month" and similar
reason: "this" becomes immediately useless the day after, hence to perform analysis once data are complete it is always necessary to do date acrobatics.

Hello John,

I'm not sure I understand what you're saying about the limitations, as you can probably save like 15+ custom searches in the Favorites before it indeed becomes unmanageable. Plus, the Favorites are contextual on the model, so we'll never display unrelated custom searches.

Also, we already have several tasks to improve the new search:
- Editable criteria: you'll be able to click on a search criteria inside the searchbox and edit it (you won't have to delete it and enter a new one again)
- Easy dates: we'll add easy access to date filters on relative dates (last month...), and better custom options like 'is between' with two date pickers (take a look here:

But don't hesitate to let me know if you have any other improvement suggestions

Best regards,

Lionel - Odoo Usability team.

I was wondering if anybody has the same feeling about me regarding the lack of organization with the search menu.

I find that the layout limits the ability to save more than a few custom searches, without the menu becoming unmanageable . Has anybody done anything in order to improve upon this. Is it possible to create drop-down menus with the various options for filters and grouping, rather than having them all listed together?

In my opinion the layout of the search menu was far better in version 7 then in version 8, however I believe with drop down menus listing the various filterable object criteria, would be the best possible solution.

Can anybody point me in the right direction or give me some insight on the above?

Thank you
