Dear Community

I have a multi-company environment and unfortunately at the moment every user has access to all documents in the documents app, wether or not they have access to the respective company the document was uploaded in.

Can someone help me out where to change the standard user right to a "my documents" setting, where a user only sees their documents and documents they should see within their company (e.g. when in same project).

Thank you and best regards from Switzerland

Thank you so much for your answer! I understand the concept of Odoo user rights and even saw your video some days ago already - but I struggle to find the key to solve my issue with all documents currently being available to all users. I believe it's a right in the internal user group at the moment, but I couldn't find a way to update via the record rules. Could you give me a more specific hint to which rule is key here by any chance?

Hi,

You can restrict document access in Odoo by configuring Access Rights and Record Rules for specific user groups.

Go to Settings → Users & Companies → Users, and assign appropriate access levels.

Then, under Technical → Security → Record Rules, define rules to limit which documents a group can see.

This ensures users only access records relevant to their role, enhancing data privacy.

For a visual guide, check this video walkthrough explaining document access setup:

Hope it helps
