it seems to work only with some unit of measure

I have created a pakage that is a Bar 3 meter long

if the producto has unit of measure m I can not select it

Above all I found it quite unpractical because I have to create all the combination of pakaging required, the function Multiple quantity was more immediate

can somebody give me a workaround?

I really don't understand why they made these changes - I think it's made several things more complicated. I wrote about that here: https://odootricks.tips/2025/01/26/did-they-break-units-of-measure/

As far as I know, you can select any UoM / Packaging Unit that is listed under the Sales tab for the product.

Yes I can select any UoM/Packaging in the sales tab.
Unfortunately the cast I have is different:
this product will be consumed in BOM or sold according to the specific UoM, but I have to buy it in multiple of.
in my case I have a product that is an alluminium bar, it is evaluated in meters, bought in meters, and in the reordering roules I need to specify that I'm going to uy in bars 3 meters long (I have created a Pakage for it)

So you have added the 3 metre bar as a unit/packaging for this product but you can't select it in Replenishment?

I agree with you that this change in 18.1 is crazy and the old multiple quantity was easier and more flexible, but you'd have to raise that with Odoo directly.

Hi,

The issue happens because in Odoo, a product’s packaging must have a unit of measure (UoM) compatible with the product’s UoM. In your example, the product is measured in meters, but the packaging likely uses a different UoM (like units or pieces), so Odoo won’t let you select it. To work around this, you can either make the packaging UoM match the product’s UoM, create a dedicated UoM for “package of 3 m” with the correct conversion, or use a custom wizard or calculation that multiplies the quantity by the package size. The last two approaches are more flexible, as they avoid having to create a separate packaging record for every possible size while still allowing correct stock and order calculations.

Hope it helps.
