What would be the process of generating an invoice within departments inside the same company

I would also like to find a solution. My situation is this:
We have 2 departments - Production & Rental. Sometimes production uses rental services. I want to know which rental invoices are for Internal jobs to Production Dept or for external billing for pure rental costs. The internal billing from Rental to Production should not show as revenue but i want to know the value at year end.
