I have a client that wants to use displays in his manufacturing facility. How do I configure multiple dashboards to display on different monitors.

I'm thinking of having one person log into each display/pc, and select a different dashboard.

Can I use Studio to accomplish this, if the Dashboards app will not?

Thanks,

Tom Campbell

Creating multiple dashboards in Odoo Online can help you visualize different sets of data and metrics according to your business needs. Here’s how you can set up and manage multiple dashboards in Odoo Online:

1. Accessing the Dashboard

  1. Log in to Odoo Online: Start by logging into your Odoo Online account.
  2. Navigate to the Dashboard Module: Depending on your configuration, this might be directly accessible from the main menu. If not, you may need to install or access it via the “Apps” module.

2. Creating Dashboards

  1. Go to the Dashboard Module: Once in the Dashboard module, you’ll typically find options to create new dashboards.
  2. Create a New Dashboard:
    • Click on "Create" or "New Dashboard" (the exact button name may vary).
    • Give your dashboard a meaningful name to differentiate it from others.
  3. Add Widgets and Views:
    • Add Widgets: You can add various widgets to your dashboard, such as charts, graphs, KPI indicators, and more. Click on "Add Widget" or similar options.
    • Configure Widgets: Customize each widget according to the data you want to display. For example, you can create a widget to show sales performance, customer statistics, or project progress.
    • Drag and Drop: Arrange the widgets on your dashboard using a drag-and-drop interface, if available.
  4. Set Filters and Data Sources:
    • Configure filters to display relevant data. For example, you might want to filter by date ranges, departments, or specific teams.
    • Choose the data sources from which the widgets will pull information. This could be from different modules like Sales, CRM, Projects, etc.
  5. Save and Publish:
    • Once you’ve added and configured all the necessary widgets, save your dashboard.
    • Publish or set permissions if necessary so that relevant users can access the dashboard.

3. Managing Multiple Dashboards

  1. Switch Between Dashboards:
    • Use the dashboard navigation options to switch between different dashboards. Odoo typically provides a menu or dropdown to select different dashboards.
  2. Edit Existing Dashboards:
    • Navigate to the dashboard you want to edit.
    • Click on "Edit" or similar options to modify widgets, filters, or the layout.
  3. Delete or Archive Dashboards:
    • If a dashboard is no longer needed, you can either delete it or archive it for future reference.

4. Advanced Customization

  1. Use Custom Modules:
    • For more advanced dashboard features or specific requirements, consider using custom Odoo modules available from the Odoo App Store or developed by your Odoo partner.
  2. Integrate with Other Tools:
    • If needed, integrate Odoo dashboards with other business intelligence tools for enhanced analytics and reporting.
  3. Leverage Odoo Studio:
    • If you need more customization, Odoo Studio allows you to create and modify dashboards with a more extensive range of options.

5. User Access and Permissions

  1. Set Permissions:
    • Define who has access to which dashboards. You can set permissions based on user roles to ensure that sensitive information is only visible to authorized personnel.
  2. Share Dashboards:
• Share dashboards with team members or stakeholders as needed. You can typically do this by configuring user access and sharing options within the Odoo platform.

6. Regular Maintenance

  1. Update Dashboards:
    • Regularly update your dashboards to reflect any changes in business processes, data requirements, or organizational changes.
  2. Monitor Dashboard Performance:
    • Ensure that dashboards load efficiently and provide accurate data. Address any performance issues or data discrepancies promptly.

By following these steps, you can effectively create, manage, and utilize multiple dashboards in Odoo Online to cater to different aspects of your business and enhance decision-making.
