I have a situation where I have difined a variant as "Is Custom". When entering the order, this value allows the user to enter a value which is exactly what is needed. However, I need this attribute to be displayed or represented on the BOM.

Example: Attribute of length. Order entry, enters the length needed and can be anywhere between 1 - 1000. Need this value to be associated OR represented on the BOM for either at component or at least visible on the manufacturing order.

Is this even possible without an enhancement?

Jake,

Thank you for the response. I finally came to the same conclusion after working the problem and looking through the models and views. As long as I can get the SO Line description to display on the MO, we should be good.

Hello Jeff,

Have you found a workaround to have the SO line Display on your MOs?

Thanks!

Hi Jeff,

From what I can tell, without customisations the only effect of the 'Is Custom' flag is to add the users response to the sale order lines description field.

Transferring this to the manufacturing order would have to be a small customisation that could either hook the sale order line procurement method and write it to the manufacturing order on create, or you could have a stored compute that looks at the production orders destination stock moves' sale order line.
