INTECO is the Institute of Technical Standards of Costa Rica; a private, non-profit association, created in 1987. We are recognized, by law # 8279, as the National Standardization Body and we have the declaration of public utility for the interests of the State.

We represent Costa Rica before the international and regional standards organizations ISO, IEC, COPANT.

We are a technical, independent, representative and suitable institution to develop the technical standards required by the country. INTECO understands quality as a fundamental mechanism to ensure transparency, efficiency and improve competitiveness in any process.  

From 2018 to 2020, INTECO occupies one of the 20 positions on the ISO * Board of Directors, which represents a benefit for Costa Rica, since the stronger its national standardization body, the greater the opportunities and tools that different stakeholders (consumer, state, companies, society) can take advantage of.


Mission

Develop the standardization of the country with the support of conformity assessment services and related products nationally and internationally, with a competent team, with credibility and independence.


Vision

Being the entity that constantly improves the quality of life of Costa Rican society through standardization and its practical use in everyday life.


Quality policy

INTECO is a private, non-profit association, recognized as the National Standardization Body and declared of public utility for the interests of the Costa Rican State.

We commit ourselves to our stakeholders to coordinate the development of technical standards and promote their use to improve the quality of life of society in general.

We complement each other with the Evaluation and Training Services, which are attached to the applicable standards and schemes, with the aim of providing a service that guarantees impartiality, integrity, credibility and knowledge transfer that promotes the competitiveness and sustainability of organizations and people.

We do all of the above with highly qualified and committed personnel, complying with the applicable requirements, focusing on the continuous improvement, efficiency and excellence of our management system, promoting the development of skills and continuous innovation processes.
