Dedicated to honoring Japanese sake culture and tradition, Sakaya.co is a sake distributor in Hong Kong that connects connoisseurs directly to sakaguras. On its website, customers can not only search for the best sake for every occasion but also explore the rich history and vibrant traditions of each brewery and prefecture.
From Shopify to Odoo
Sakaya.co previously hosted its website on Shopify and managed inventory on a separate system. However, the reseller soon found the limitations of managing his business on standalone software.
"The systems were not talking to one another," says Joseph, founder of Sakaya.co. There was no synchronization between the two systems, leaving the team unaware of the company's stock when making a sale. "We were selling items we didn't have and had to refund our customers."
In hopes of improving business management and customer experience, the sake seller turned to Odoo for its all-in-one services.
Odoo-Powered Business Solution
Looking for a complete revamp, Sakaya.co came to Odoo with the following requirements:
Frontend
A global e-commerce platform for its Japanese sake and shochu.
Backend
An integrated system to manage its sales, inventory and integration with an e-commerce fulfillment platform, including dropshipping capabilities.
Odoo's Web Design Services team addresses Sakaya.co's first request, and the platform's comprehensive, scalable solution responds to the second.
SEO Web Design
"We could just leave everything to the Odoo WDS team!"
When asked about his experience with Odoo WDS, Joseph specifically highlighted the thought-through deployment process. "I love how there is a staging database apart from the production database to test everything before actually launching it," says the founder.
This separation of databases allows the Sakaya team to ensure an enhanced customer journey before the new website goes live without risking the user experience from the existing website.
Synchronized Frontend & Backend Operations
Odoo's built-in FedEx integration enables the company to operate on a more cost-effective dropshipping business model, even in Odoo's standard offerings. By checking the "Dropshipping" and "Multi-Step Routes" options on the Odoo Purchase and Inventory apps, a "Dropship" option will automatically appear when creating SOs. With this feature, the shipping cost will be directly added to the customer's order.

In parallel, the system automatically generates a FedEx shipping label for the corresponding SO on the Sales app and alerts the merchants. All the merchants have to do is pick, pack and attach the label on the packages. "The process was super easy," says Joseph.
"Any FMCG, F&B and retail businesses would benefit from Odoo's services, especially its FedEx integration and web design services. Actually, I can't really think of an industry that won't."
