Good day, 

Yes I do have a valid domain registration from another supplier. I also followed the instructions to the point without any luck. 

The domain of the new website is still the "previous or first" website on the browser when I want to make to edit the website. Or is tries to find mywebsite.odoo.com (new website) which does not exist as they database is on on the main company name.

goto Website -> Configuration -> Settings , Click on the new website button as shown below

Here you can give the website name and domain name if you have a registered domain and choose the company
