OpenERP can't connect to Postgresql ! Is Postgresql intalled (and running) on your system ?

Do i need to install it separately?.. Also in my system i checked postgresql service is not running i.e. it starts and stops.

I suppose that you are running Windows version. Openerp All-in-one can install PostgreSQL. Try re-install PostgreSQL through OpenERP installer. Postgresql service must be running.

I have reinstalled openerp 5-6 times but the same error occuring. also postgresql service is not running. please tell me what to do?

I don't know, Postgresql should be running. Try to download Postgresql and install it alone.
