Hello,

I'm very new to odoo and trying it as a self hosted solution. Installation went fine, but I have issues on how to model our process. 

The end goal of what we are trying to achieve is to have all our customers data  (we are in B2C and have tens of thousands of customers) and customer communication in a single place (we communicate with customers via zendesk tickets, sendgrid promo emails, livechat app, etc so at some point I would look into how to pull that info back in odoo from 3rd parties, but this is far away in the future:) ).

The very first step (as I see it) would be to actually import customer data under contacts. And this is the first big roadblock.

Is there a way to actually edit the fields that are specific for a contact? I'm looking to bulk import a csv, and most of the columns/data that i have in csv can not be mapped to existing fields. Just one example is that we have the first and last name on different columns (sure in this case i could just unify the columns in csv first), but there are a lot of other data that simply doesn't match our model.

Or maybe i'm looking this from the wrong direction, should I actually build my own app using Studio instead?

Thanks for this info Michael, I will check it, however that was just a very basic example of issue i have (and actually that one I can handle from bulk import, since I can unify the fields there), but let's say for a Contact I want to have field "color of eyes", is there a way to add this (and define values that can be set there, type of data, etc)

Hello Gabi,
welcome. Yes I thought this. But it is always worth checking the OCA modules.
As you need special fields you can either create them via Odoo Studio or you do a customization (python code) in the contact page. I guess storing this information in the Tab "Internal Note" is not sufficient for you. Also check if maybe using the Tags can help for some additional information.

Thank you again, does Odoo Studio allows me to edit existing apps (not even sure which app is the one responsible for contacts), or i need to create new one from 0?

Hello Gabi,

welcome to the Odoo community. Before you start Odoo Studio would recommend to check if you can find OCA modules like this: https://odoo-community.org/shop/partner-first-name-and-last-name-1794#attr=21627

After the installation of this you can enter Last Name and First Name separately.

Hope this helps you a step further.
