Product attributes categorized
Now you can use public categories to group product attributes
Main features:
- easy and fast linking of attributes to public categories (website e-commerce categories);
- default set is to remove all filter attributes from categories links
- smart select of filter attributes (see below): Customize > Smart Product Attribute's Filter
- main product category (i.e. "All Products") always clears the filter
- only linked attributes are shown in website;
- attributes' filter is always active on list of available attributes;
- when no category is selected no attributes are shown;
- child categories don't get its parent category attributes;
- it is possible to link a single attribute to many categories.
Additional features for Odoo 11:
- Compatible with recursive and collapsible categories list
- Smart filter activation separated for both resursive and collapsible categories list
- Attributes filter is also modified - the attributes' values shown depend on the products in the category: If you have attribute "Memory" and values 16GB, 32GB and 64GB, but in category "MP3 players" you have products with only 16GB and 32GB, then 64GB won't show in attributes filter.
When adding attributes to a product, not each of them is convenient for filtering the products. Using this Odoo app you can filter only by linked attributes. Each public category has its own list of linked attributes.
How to link attributes to public categories:
Linking product attributes to "website category" is done from "Website Admin > Configuration > eCommerce > Website Product Categories". Select the category which you want to modify. The form is modified and there is now a list of attributes that are linked to the selected public category. See the screenshot below.
Smart select of filter attributes
You selected some attributes to filter product's list in a category. While loading, each category's URL in category list is prepared in such a way, that only common attributes are selected.
This way not relevant attributes are automaticaly removed, so you won't see empty list because of the irrelevant attribute filter in different category.

This way it's possible to show only appropriate attributes' filter.
It allows to have more complex product's categories tree.
You can now have a full featured attribute filter for products listed in your online e-commerce website.
Use cases
Creating new Public Product Category:
- Create public category from Website Admin > eCommerce > Website Product Categories > Create
- In the category form you can add as many Product Attributes as you want
- When you save the category, it will be visible in e-commerse page with the selected attributes
Edit existing Public Product Category:
- If you have existing Website Product Categories, then you can edit them from "Website Admin > Configuration > eCommerce > Website Product Categories" and select the desired one
- After selecting the Website Product Categories, click "Edit" button to activate the form
- In "Product Attributes" field you can select as many Product Attributes as you want
- When you save the category, it will be visible in e-commerse page with the selected attributes

Is it compatible with v16.0 Odoo sh?
What happens if different attributes are related in child categories and no attributes are linked with the parent category? The parent category remains without attribute filters, isn't it?

This module is not compatible with Odoo v16. It's available only for listed versions: Odoo v8 to Odoo v12.
The attributes are selected to each website particular category. If an attribute is selected for a single category, it'll show only for it, not for its children, nor for its parent category.
Is it possible to test this app before purchase? Does the filter work in the backend as well (for example when creating a product)
For some reason the module didn't create x_attributes field during installation. I can't guess the problem, because normally it doesn't happen. Some suggestions: If you have downloaded module in ZIP file please check if all files are extracted. You can try to remove the module, update modules list and reinstall OR just try to upgrade module.
Trouble installing
Went to developer mode and tried to import module using the downloaded zip file. Getting this error message: Error while importing module 'website_product_attribute_category': 'Error while validating constraint\n\nField `x_attributes` does not exist\n\nError context:\nView `product.public.category.attributes`\n[view_id: 1333, xml_id: n/a, model: product.public.category, parent_id: 1215]\nNone\n\n\t\t\tproduct.public.category.attributes\n\t\t\tproduct.public.category\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t
I had gone for free trial but this module "website_product_attribute_category" was not there in the apps. Can you please help me out.
